Join us weekly to explore America’s healthcare system and learn how to navigate it like a pro. (Or at least like your physician host.) We discuss where we are, how we got here, and hear from the advocates who are building a better tomorrow.
We’ll go deep on all the things you’ve ever wondered – from how your physicians really get paid, to understanding the alphabet soup of health insurance, to getting real about why doctors are obsessed with your weight. And we’ll get gritty into societal health – from reproductive justice, to racial equity, to community engagement. Come for the facts, and stay for the vibes. We’re all in this together.

Dr. Rivera is a Harvard-trained psychiatrist and health policy expert. She is passionate about increasing access to healthcare resources for underserved populations, and created this podcast so that anyone can feel confident when interacting with the (often intimidating healthcare system).
Dr. Rivera graduated medical school from the University of Pennsylvania, which is also where she earned her degree in Health Law. She subsequently moved to Boston to undergo residency and earn her Health Policy degree at the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health. She’s been in Boston ever since, but is still a die-hard Philadelphia sports fan. (#GoBirds).
Clinically, Dr. Rivera is dedicated to serving justice-impacted patients and families, helping those who are currently incarcerated or in the process of re-entering the community. She focuses her advocacy efforts on decarceration and optimizing access to mental health in carceral settings.
